I'm a huge fan of Joe Swanberg's films. They're so indie-centric in all of the best ways. With amazing casts, unique stories, and killer soundtracks, Swanberg's work has me coming back again and again.


OITNB's Danielle Brooks New Hashtag Campaign Embraces All Shapes (BuzzFeed): Body positivity movements, especially coming from one of the best people, are my favorite things.


Daniel Radcliffe Was Our Receptionist For An Hour (Nylon Magazine): Daniel Radcliffe is the biggest, charming gem and if you don't already think that, you won't have a doubt about him after watching this.


Joy teaser trailer
Absolutely psyched for this. It looks phenomenal and a relief, because, like some of you, when the film was announced, synopsis and all, it didn't seem like much. Definitely one of those times I'm glad to be wrong!


Celebs Take the Geeks & Poseurs Test (MTV): One of my favorite parts of Comic-Con every year and this year lives up to the hype! Just watch it. You will laugh.


Lena Dunham is Launching A Newsletter For Young Women (BuzzFeed): This is such a step in the right direction and I cannot wait for Lenny to start filling my inbox.

All the Ways "Gilmore Girls" Predicted the Future (HelloGiggles): Stars Hollow was full of hipsters before the term was even coined.


Masterminds Trailer:
This film has really flown under my radar and after seeing this trailer I haven't a clue why. Stellar cast and the official return (in my eyes anyways) of Owen Wilson. Haven't seen him in much besides Wes Anderson's film...although I'd never complain about Wes Anderson.


The Stars of "Teen Wolf" Are Now Practically Family (BuzzFeed): There are few things I love more than a good bromance, especially when it involves two of the most grounded and real actors in the business: Tyler Posey and Dylan O'Brien.


"Orange Is The New Black" Helped Its Breakout Star Learn How To Love Herself (BuzzFeed): Truly love Adrienne C. Moore's (aka Black Cindy) story of her journey into self-love and acceptance.


Amy Poehler and Seth Reunite for a New Really!?! (Late Night with Seth Meyers):

One of my all-time favorite SNL segments comes to Late Night and it's predictably on point.

Actors on Actors: Emmys (Variety): There's nothing like watching brilliant minds interact and discuss their craft. All of these are worth a watch!

Starbucks Frappucino's Six New Flavors: I'm a Java Chip girl for life, but that doesn't mean I won't try these sugary beauties!


Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling on Inside Out, Mindy's Hulu Move, and Those Daily Show Rumors: First, I'm psyched for Inside Out. Second, Amy and Mindy are two queen comedians who give good quote.


Ariana Grande on Being Empowered: Definitely a must-read and I'm glad that someone with her level of influence is speaking out on this.

Yes, Matt Damon's an astronaut again. Let's hope it turns out better for him this time...

Happy June! It's time to introduce a new monthly series:



The Slate will feature all of the books/films/TV releases and more that I'm looking forward to checking out that month. As expected, there's lots.

Let's get to it!


June 2nd: The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler
On theme for Summer. Seems adorable times a boatload of feels. Will also feed my new love of mermaids (thanks for that one, C!). Sold!

June 5th: Sense8 Series Premiere on Netflix
                                I'm a huge Wachowski's fan. Unique premise and diversely talented cast will definitely keep me interested. Here's to yet another Netflix original I'm bound to be hooked on!

June 9th: iZombie Season 1 Finale
                       iZombie is a MUST-see. Absolutely cannot wait to discover what Liv finally does to Blaine this week...

June 12th: Me and Earl And the Dying Girl

Yes, I want to see it so badly, I'm featuring it twice! I'm a huge sucker for a tearjerker with loads of heart (i.e. this year's grounded TFIOS).

June 12th: OITNB Season 3 Premiere
                           Who's ready for round three of Litchfield? I sure as hell am!

June 19th: The Overnight

So many favorites in this movie. As if that hadn't sold me enough, I crave movies where you think you have it all figured out, then it get's weird. I love weird.

June 19th: Dope

"All we have to do is find the white people...go to Coachella." SOLD.

 June 29th: Teen Wolf Season 5 Premiere

A staple on my TV calendar. With even more cast shakeups this year, I'm curious how the cast dynamics will continue to evolve. Also, Stiles Stilinski will be everything, as he always is.
